The DSi XL's volume is 161 x 91.4 x 21.2 mm, 1.61x the total volume of the DSi, and 1.48x the volume of the DS lite. It weighs 314 grams, while the DSi weighs 214g, and the DS Lite weighs 218g and the original DS is 300g.The screen is 4.2 inches diagonally, while the DSi's screen diagonally is 3.25 inches and the DS lite's screen measures 3 inches diagonally.

The DSi XL was produced by Nintendo in Japan, on November 21, 2009. It was released in Europe on March 5, 2010 and in North America on March 28, 2010. In Japan, it comes in 3 colors, Wine Red, Dark Brown, and Natural White. in Europe it was released with two colors, Wine Red and Dark Brown. in Australia and North America it has only Burgundy and Bronze.

The DS line has thousands of different games. Some are based on movies and TV shows, such as Disney's The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure, or G-Force. Others are based on game shows, like Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader or Family Feud. There are cooking games(Cooking Mama), racing games(MarioKart), mini games(WarioWare: Touched!,) brain games(Brain Age), puzzle games(Jewel Quest), adventure games(Final Fantasy series), Pokemon games(Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver), games based on manga(Naruto: Path of the Ninja), games based on animal care(Nintendogs), and lots of other categories

The Nintendo 3DS is the upcoming successor to the DS line. It is supposed to be able to produce 3D effects without 3D glasses. It is scheduled to release on March, 2011. The 3DS was announced on March 23rd, so it probably drew a lot of attention out of the still new DSi XL. According to Nintendo, there will be a "a 3-D joystick and a force feedback system," and will have many improvements in battery life and wireless communication, but will still work with the software in the other DS series.
